Hey there!  My name is JD and I started this blog to share my experiences with makeup and hair with all of  you. I started down this path because of someone I met through work.  I saw her portfolio and couldn’t believe what I was seeing.  She made all the difference in my life, because I then at that moment, knew that this is something I wanted to do. Beautiful art work in real life images,  how amazing!  I can still remember the first time “beauty” really played a part in my life.  I was 7 years old and had the curling iron in my hand…  I continued to curl my hair that day (using the curling iron backward, mind you). I finished my hair and even though it was kinked ALL  over my head,  I felt BEAUTIFUL!

The second time I really recognized beauty fitting into the everyday way of  life, was when I would watch my Mom.   She would always sit at the table with her mirror and apply her makeup.  She would tell us to get our things together because we were “going”. However, this makeup application always took a LONG, LONG time.   Despite the lengthy process, the end result was always beautiful.  I admired my Mom and how she dared always, to use different colors.  She was one of those women that never just picked ONE color.  It was always to match whatever she was wearing, that day.

It has always been a great pleasure for me, to make people feel good.   Be it with compliments, helping with hair or makeup at weddings, girls “night out”.  It doesn’t matter, because we all just want to put our best foot forward.   I just love for people to feel good about themselves.  I think it is easy to get caught up in the everyday and let ourselves go.  But, when someone compliments us,  it really means a lot.  Usually, it’s on the day we DIDN’T wash our hair or take the EXTRA time on our makeup.  But none the less it makes us feel good.

That is what I want to achieve everyday.  I want to show women the more glamorous side of their everyday self.  Or take them over the top,  to something they never dared to try before. I hear from women often “I don’t use color because,  I’m afraid I will put it on wrong.”  We all know we don’t want to end up like  “Mimi”!  But,  we shouldn’t be afraid of  some color here and there!  The standard is that “natural” is the way to wear makeup, you shouldn’t be able to tell it’s there at all.  Sometimes you might hear “You should be able to do your makeup in 5 minutes”. Well, I don’t know what planet these people live on!?  Color is F-U-N!  Natural is F-U-N!   Both ways are right.  Who said there has to be rules with makeup?  We are all beautiful in our individual ways, with that we have our own specific needs. At the end of the day shouldn’t it be something that makes each one of us happy?

I love makeup,  I love hair products!  ( Yes, I sniff them…LOL! ) I love the way they smell.  I am a very artistic, crafty  person.  I love faces and skin textures!  Hair and hair textures!  I have this need to create things constantly.  This is my outlet and the joy it brings me is unending.  So, spend some time with me.  Let’s get to know eachother and have some fun finding the side of you, you want to share.
